Presentation Of SP1

Today was the Presentation for SP1 towards the whole class. It was very useful to have other people's criticism as well as input i could use for next time or what i could improve on. I showed my complete alphabet and my 2 versions of collages; one in the style of Jamie Reid and the other in Anthony Zinononos.

Sunday 20th November 2011

Have now got some orgainization to my work ethics
and have now started to single out the main parts of my work and how to target them such as the bs1 project of evaluating the work.
I worked also on creating new negative space with different fonts, still I have to research more artists and find more fonts. I find this method really creative and something to really boost my efforts in this area of typography.
The task was set to "how to explain type" which i have completed for monday lesson and soon i will post up in the graphics section of blogger.

Thinking more positively and more creative. During work the customer that i serve had on negative space tshirt designs and made me realize how great the method is and fashionable.

Library session on thursday

Thursday 29th September 2011
Private Study/ reading a Publication

Today I went to the library and checked out a couple of books to read. Creative review was the first i taken out as well as Grafix.

Creative Review

Page 10  is a very amazing design of a water wave Turning into a jaguar. For the Puma advertisement, which was part of a London Based Graphic Designer called GBH; the design is very well thought out , eye-catching and very innovative.

Bold Advertisements very striking colours and simple designs

Black Dog Logo is very good, creative Block Text

- Page 20 Gives a Pop art Graphical image made up from so many different comic books, that eventually create an image of a fire fighter when panned out above all of the comics. The time is referencing the very difficult times of 9/11. Gives a very deep expression on his face that basically says "Devastation and Sadness" elevenfineart.com

BS1 Photographing and Graphical intervention

Sunday 16th October 2011

The area of BS1

Today was another visit to where we set off to start the project. My intentions were already thought out on where I would go and what areas I would go to take photos of. The main subject areas I tried for today was the accidental alphabet; I managed to find a few more letters and also I started to become more aware of how fast I can now see then since a couple of weeks ago. Here are some of the photos.

Bower ashton Library induction

Thursday 20th october 2011

Bower ashton library

today was the induction of the bower ashton campus library, the whole area is packed with lots of great for resources. I have looked around at the site a couple of times but havent had a person talk us through about it. I'm am now confident to use this site if there isn't anything from the wise campus. The dvd's section was really pleasing as I could even get a feature film as a rental for a week. This didnt take up much of the day but I managed to see a good amount of books that can help me through some of the topics we are covering at the moment.

one to one session Malcolm

Monday 17th October 2011

Today was a one to one meeting with malcolm , we discussed about my project and that i had very strong ideas around the ares of my visual journey. The journey I'm creating by taking photographs of the area of BS1 and I was interested by the different ground surfaces. The idea cropped into my mind when I went to the city centre a couple of days ago, I then noticed while tying my shoelaces that it was completely different.
Also the process of cutting of the cardboard letters had a great edge to the different areas of design and graphics. I will continue with my collages and also have a go into create a different arrangement with the letters. Here is a short video I have recently uploaded onto youtube.

I have now completed  these little cardboard cut outs. I have only just recently read a book involving typography and different effects, i came across a artist that makes wood cut outs which i would like to try as an design.

cutting out cardboard letters

Tuesday 11th October 2011

Today I decided to create a graphical intervention through using the methods of oli's class. I got a sheet of cardboard and started to cut away; it took time and patience but in the whole process of it was great fun to make. Here is a short clip of my letters.

my plan is to now finish them off and photographing them down town. I was thinking of putting the letters around places that have historic relevance such as millennium square where there is great use of architecture and how much it stands out compared to  historic boats.

The First Lecture (Sam Thomson)

                                                        Wednesday 28th September 2011

During this day I first when to the main site campus to my very first lecture with Sam Thomson. We started at 9.30 and those few hours were packed with information on with visual culture, and the relationships between the 3 creative practices of Graphics, Photography and Fashion.
We then were paired off into groups and were told questions about the three subjects ,what is Graphics/Fashion/Photography?
Most of the answers we came up with were the same or they slightly went off in a different tangent. The images around the main site we saw was a poster with all three , there was a girl with her style of clothing that indicates fashion, the way the type font is graphics and the photograph of this girl. They all tie in together some way or another because its all from an artists background.

The no 23

The number 23

The number 23 has always been there for me and as it being both mine and sister's birthday number. I just found out that Sofia's and Lisa's was also 23. My experience with this number is that it comes up at random times, such as films. Today Oli was taking the lesson and he said that there are only 23% of mac users and earlier today sam Thomson stopped to make an interesting point in her lecture and looking at the projector I saw that she had stopped at 23 words.

Thursday 6th october i was in tutor lesson with sam brooks and reading the article about the SS Great Britain the first line said about the 23rd april.

Town area of BS1

Saturday 1st October 2011

Earlier today me and a group from my class of Graphics decided to meet up in town. We decided to continue in taking photographs of the accidental alphabet as well as familiarise ourselves wit the area. Also of what the main topic was gonna be on. I kept re reading the project brief to get a better understanding of whats the easiest to do for the day. As this was a Saturday there were lots of people around the area, which caused problems when getting discarded pieces of paper or little things that have relation to the topic I will eventually choose. From the leaflets I've kept from this outing i will read through in what direction I'm heading for.

Bs1 Start of Project

The next lesson was at 1.30 down at the watershed in Bs1 start of the project. Oli Timmins took over today saying about how we can incorporate something to our work such as , pencil rubbings, photos and collages to present the work. I went around in my group taking photos of an accidental alphabet and as well around the museums to give us indication of bristol's past history. It is something that has engaged me to work on either doing about the slave trade or how signage has developed from those times to looking at todays times.
